Our promise
Every wood.i piece is built to last decades — generations, with care. Solid American hardwood, traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery, no veneers, no shortcuts. We stand behind every joint we cut. This warranty covers your piece for the lifetime of the original owner against manufacturing and structural defects in the wood and joinery.
What's covered
- — Structural joinery failure (mortise-and-tenon joints, dowel joints, hand-fitted pedestal and frame joints).
- — Manufacturing defects in the wood selection or joinery that weren't visible at delivery.
- — Hardware failure caused by our work — loose factory-set fasteners, undermount drawer slides that fail under normal residential use.
- — The Rubio Monocoat factory finish for the first 12 months under normal interior use, when cared for as instructed.
What's not covered
Solid wood is a natural material. Some things will happen to it over time, and some things customers will do to it. None of the following are manufacturing defects, and none are covered under this warranty:
- — Heat damage. Hot mugs, pans, candles, laptops, radiators, or heaters placed in direct contact with the wood.
- — Water and moisture damage. Un-wiped spills, standing water, leaking plants, exposure to bathrooms, basements, or other unconditioned spaces. Humidifiers placed directly on the surface.
- — Sun fading, darkening, or natural patina. Wood changes colour with UV exposure — this is character, not a defect.
- — Dents, scratches, dings, and surface marks from normal use, pets, or accidents.
- — Damage caused by moving the piece improperly — drag marks, joint stress from lifting incorrectly.
- — Wear consistent with the age and use of the piece.
- — Modifications, repairs, sanding, or refinishing performed by anyone other than wood.i.
- — Damage caused by misuse — standing on a bed frame, exceeding reasonable weight, jumping on slats, dragging open a drawer past its stops.
- — Damage from neglect of the care instructions provided with every piece.
- — Damage in transit when the piece was moved by a third-party mover after our delivery.
- — Commercial or rental use. This warranty is for residential use only.
Wood is a living material
Solid hardwood expands, contracts, and shifts with the humidity and temperature of the room throughout the year. Small seasonal movement — hairline checks at the ends of wide slabs, slight cup or twist on broad surfaces, mortise-and-tenon joints that “breathe” a fraction of a millimetre — is the expected behaviour of a piece that will outlast the room it sits in. None of this is a defect. We use kiln-dried lumber and traditional joinery specifically to keep this movement within healthy limits.
Rubio Monocoat finish
Your piece is finished with Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C — a plant-based oil that penetrates the wood rather than forming a surface film. It's low-sheen, water resistant, and non-toxic, but it relies on simple ongoing maintenance to keep the wood protected.
To keep the warranty valid and the wood healthy, re-oil every 12–18 months following the care instructions delivered with your piece. Finish-related issues caused by skipped maintenance, harsh cleaners, alcohol-based products, or solvents are not warranty claims. We can re-finish your piece for a service fee and will quote it before any work begins.
Custom orders
Custom-size and custom-colour orders carry the same lifetime warranty on structural joinery and manufacturing defects. Bespoke modifications you commission us to make are covered. Modifications by third parties — drilling, sanding, refinishing, staining over the Rubio finish — void the warranty for the affected area.
How to make a claim
Email us at hello@woodi-bed.com with:
- — Your order number or the email used at checkout.
- — A clear description of the issue.
- — Photos: a close-up of the affected area and a wide shot of the full piece, both well-lit.
We respond within two business days. For Philadelphia-area pieces we may schedule an in-person inspection. Approved remedies are at our discretion: repair, replacement, or refund of the original purchase price — whichever is most appropriate to the defect.
Original purchaser
The warranty applies to the original buyer at the original delivery address. It's not transferable. If you re-sell or gift the piece, the new owner is welcome to reach out for paid service or repairs, but this warranty does not carry over.
Limitations
This is the sole warranty on your wood.i piece and is in place of any implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. wood.i is not liable for any incidental, consequential, or indirect damages arising from a covered or non-covered claim. Some jurisdictions don't allow limitations on implied warranties or incidental damages; in those cases the law of the jurisdiction takes precedence.
